Yoga and Surfing

Surfing and yoga have similar requirements for mind and body and combine very well. We offer daily yoga lessons, which are coordinated with the surf lessons at the surf and yoga retreat in Portugal and will help you to progress, have quick successful experiences and recover faster.

Our yoga instructors

Our certified and experienced yoga instructors Annett and Silvia are passionate surfers themselves and have specifically tailored the yoga exercises to your specific requirements.

Annett Mottlau

Annett Mottlau - Yoga Trainerin

Annett is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor of the B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga Institute in Amsterdam and also a passionate surfer.
After completing her 3-year training for yoga instructors at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Amsterdam, she learned and practiced for a long time together with Geeta and Prashant S. Iyengar at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune in distant India, the birthplace of Iyengar yoga. Thanks to the high demands of her training, Annett offers a yoga workout, which is based on profound knowledge and skills and ensures the students safety and fun in the yoga sessions.

 Silvia Stojanovic

Sylvia Stojanovic - Yoga Trainer

Sports teacher since 1996, personal trainer, yoga instructor and passionate surfer. The passion to move the body, she had since her early childhood. Now it is her career and vocation.
Sharing the knowledge of physical and mental movement has made her a better and happier person.
Surfing and Yoga is linked very closely. Good surfers practice every day, thus increasing their strength, improving balance and understanding of nature and environment. Even the special breathing technique in yoga increases lung capacity and all in all an incredible potential of unity of power and flexibility can be achieved with regular yoga. Even in tricky situations an inner peace and serenity will be kept. Very important: Practicing yoga just makes so much fun! Those who had once the opportunity to enjoy practicing yoga, do not want to miss that feeling no more – just like surfing. Syvia is one of the yoga instructors most passionate about surfing we have seen!

Yoga Sessions

The two 60-minute yoga sessions will be held on 5 days before and after surfing lessons. In the morning it will make you fit for the surf session and in the afternoon it will allow you to recover, relax and sleep well.

Locations

With predominantly good weather the yoga classes will take place in our garden on the wooden deck terrace, at the pool, eventually on the beach or in the mystical forest of the Serra de Sintra. Expect the unexpected! From almost every place you have a fantastic view over the Atlantic and can feel the energy that surrounds this wonderful place.
If it should be slightly uncomfortable outside, we arrange ourselves in the protected area of the terrace or in the surf villa close to the cozy fireplace. There is always enough space available, as there is a maximum of 10-12 participants.
 

Advantages

Already after one week of yoga and surfing you will be much more flexible, coordinated, stronger and relaxed. You will emerge from this regular yoga classes noticeably physically and mentally strengthened.
This allows you a quicker progress in surfing, guarantees even more fun, helps to regenerate faster and relax more deeply.
