We all know how good it feels to jump in the sea after a few days, maybe even a few months away from the surf. The first feel of your board under your feet, the distinctive smell of neoprene and surf wax or the sight of a sandy beach gives you that feeling of release, adrenaline and satisfaction all at the same time. Winning!
But I know for some of us this is a daily or weekly occurring feeling that we experience. Now is the time to renew that adrenaline pumping, alternative sliding sport that you love so much and invest in some different methods to play on.

Bodyboard your way out of some sketchy landings, surfing waves you would never dream to attempt on a surfboard because you’d probably break your neck!
This chunk of foam can be so much fun, twinned with a pair of flipsters, you’ll be able to catch all-sorts!
Hand planes are so simply designed and one of the easiest methods of ‘sliding’ to carry around with you, so super handy for travelling and being able to body surf with a little extra float (and fun). All you need to find now is a slamming shore break to get your heart pumping!
Lilo – do they work? Oh yes! The best mess around, friend magnet and the best wipeout photo opportunity maker you have come across in the sea!
The sport of Stand Up Surfing is becoming more and more popular with the introduction of blow up boards, a governing body and generally more people having a go at this alternative sliding method. If you haven’t given it a go yet, do it!
So next time when you need to spice up your surfing time – I recommend you take one of these options and hit the beach pronto!
