Why go 2 instead of 1 week on a surf holiday?

Two weeks on a surf holiday, is that possible? Everyone always only does 1 week? Why would you do that when you do exactly the same thing twice? Over the years we have often received questions of this kind about booking a two-week surfing holiday. In this article we would like to explain what the benefits of an extra week can be.

Learn to surf well

When we – SurfaWhile – are at our locations and we talk to people who are at the end of their surf week, we regularly hear: “It is a great pity that I have to go home now. Finally I am able to stay on the surfboard for a bit, it actually just started to get really fun. What a pity that I hadn’t booked two weeks in advance. ” This is a very logical response; surfing is really difficult and a week of surfing gives you the option to really take steps. Many people are novice surfers and after day 4 or 5 they often start to get into it completely. It is then really a shame that you stop using it, without knowing when you will continue surfing. A two-week stay certainly pays off in terms of surfing, because you will see that your level really increases in the second week.

Most surf camps offer surf lessons at different levels, so you really don’t have to worry about learning the same thing the second week as you did in the first week. You’ll really be making progress again that second week, too. And in the long term, a good foundation is actually very important, so it really is a win-win.

Fun people

It is true that most people will leave after 1 week. However, there are always people who stay longer; how nice would it be if you experienced a second week with them as well. And of course a new group of nice people arrives every week, so you suddenly meet a lot of new people in two weeks.

We also see that guests who stay two weeks (or longer) really create a bond with the staff of the surf accommodation. Of course, the staff mainly gets to know guests who stay a week and then go again, which makes it more challenging for them to really get to know people (after all, you have to say goodbye to them a few days later). As soon as a staff member realizes that you are staying for two weeks or longer, it will also be more worthwhile for him / her to really get to know you.

The activities in the surf camp

Many weeks will resemble each other during the season of a surf camp. It is possible to organize a volleyball tournament every week as well as the dressing-up evening (which is really fun). However, it is true that the surf camps also respond to the fact that people sometimes stay longer than 1 week, and therefore do not want the weeks to be exact copies of each other. In terms of meals you regularly have specials that are different than in other weeks and there are also many options in terms of activities. For example, you do a city trip for a week, and you stay at the camp the following week. In many surf camps there are performances, where the bands or singer-songwriters differ per week. And where there is a surf movie night in the first week, it may be that the following week, on the same night, a music quiz is held.

As you can see, in various areas it can certainly be worthwhile to go on a surfing holiday for 2 weeks instead of 1. If you would like more information about this, or if you have any other questions, please contact us.
