School groups

A surf trip for school groups is the perfect trip. Both the students and the escorts are guaranteed a top time. We do believe that such a journey can offer much more, such as a combination of surf and a social/educational/sustainability aspects. We would like to tell you more about the options and get in touch with you for a free offer for your group tour surfing.

Most school groups stay within Europe when taking a surf trip. France, Spain and Portugal are the most popular. This is often related to the time of year, the wishes of the school group and the availability of accommodation and transportation.

Numerous other options are also possible, such as England or Ireland, or countries outside of Europe. Think of Morocco, South Africa, Ecuador or Bali and actually all the other surf spots that this globe has to offer.

The number of participants is completely up to you.

We can offer suitable accommodation for all numbers, such as groups or up to 20 people, 50, 150 or even 500 people. Everything is possible. Whether you can choose to rent an entire accommodation or part of it.

Also in terms of number or days it is completely free to choose. There are groups that go away for 4 nights or stay of a week – or even 2, all is possible.

In addition to surfing and other fun activities, there is always a possibility to give a special twist to the surfing group trip. Here are some examples:

  • Beach clean-up: surfing is done in the water at the beach. Many accommodations often organize beach clean-ups (independently), which is a good way to make surfers aware or what they (sometimes unintentionally) leave behind on the beach. This activity provides bonding, awareness and course the group does something great for Mother Nature.
  • Surfrider Foundation:  this organization, which is located all over the world, is committed to keeping our Oceans as clean as possible. They do this through (in particular) information and the organization and facilitation of beach clean-ups.With surf trips in / around Biarritz (France), San Sebastian (Northern Spain) or Lisbon (Portugal) it is quite possible to involve this organization in all surfing group trips. During this, information about the ecology of the ocean will be given to the students, followed by a beach / forest clean-up.
  • University: students can visit a university in certain places. The goal is for their knowledge to be broadened about the possibilities to study abroad. In some cases it is equally possible to let a foreign student tell about his / her experiences.
  • Nutrition: in the field of nutrition, such a surf trip can also be very instructive. Some groups choose to allow the students to consciously assemble the meals, do the shopping and cook the food themselves.Other examples are a visit to a local farmer, to see where the food comes from.
  • Own ideas: the options here extend very far. If you have ideas about this yourself, we will gladly look into this together.

Surfing, activities, meals and transport

Per group we look at the best surfing opportunities (surf lessons/free surfing/no surf), meals, activities and transport. Everything is also negotiable.

Per student it is possible to choose:

  • Surf lesson
  • No surf lesson
  • Free surfing – this is only possible under certain circumstances

All our partners are specialized in giving surfing lessons. This is usually offered in a package form, for example 3 or 5 surf lessons are given within a week. The progress of the students is of course very important here, something that many partners can watch closely.

Free surfing is possible, but will not always be possible. Safety is paramount at all times and if the circumstances do not allow it, or if the students have little or no experience with surfing, the surf school will strongly discourage free surfing.

The meals can be completely tailored to your wishes. Many groups use the meals offered because this saves a lot of work and it can be booked at a competitive rate. What happens regularly is that groups are, for example, 2 evenings free, so that the students (during a city trip or after a ‘free afternoon’) can score something themselves.

Most common:

Daily breakfast and preparing a lunch package yourself (for on the beach or somewhere else). A number of (or all) evenings a meal is then served, at the surf accommodation or at a restaurant nearby.

Special wishes:

It is quite possible to put together a menu yourself. For certain eating needs we will propose a certain accommodation that already has experience with this type of food. Consider, for example, protein-rich menus. It is also possible to take into account (the most common) allergies.

In addition to surfing, there will be plenty of time for fun and educational activities. We often see that teachers have many own ideas about this, which we like to listen to. Usually it is no problem to fit this into the program. We can also point to these popular activities:

  • Sustainable: the aforementioned activities such as a beach clean-up or a visit to (for example) the Surfrider Foundation can easily be realized at a number of locations.
  • Yoga:  this is very popular, especially in combination with surfing. Some schools bring their own yoga teacher and this can of course also be arranged by the accommodation.
  • Sports & games:  whether or not in tournament form, numerous games are possible. An afternoon football or volleyball on the beach or a fitness session.
  • Own input:  if you have ideas for fun activities during the surfing trip, we would like to hear from you. This happens regularly, possibly even in combination with ‘homework’ what the students do before the trip.

In terms of transport, there are three options. For transport by bus or plane, this can be arranged both through us and independently.

  • Bus transport: it is possible to arrange bus transport for accommodation in (in particular) France and Spain. Transport will take place in modern and comfortable buses that have brought many young people to their surfing destinations over the years. The bus will of course pick you up at school.
  • Airplane:  if you have a preference to fly (for trips to Spain or Portugal, for example) that is possible. The tickets are booked by you or through us in consultation. It is of course no problem to ensure that you are picked up at the airport and that you are dropped off again.
  • Own transport:  if you would choose to come with your own cars to the surf trip, you can. If this would be a large number of cars, it can be useful to let us know, because of the inventory for parking space.
