Like many French coastal towns, Mimizan is divided into 2 parts. Mimizan-Bourg is 10 minutes inland, while Mimizan-Plage is the place to be on the French coast. This is one of the most popular surfing destinations in France and the village breathes surfing. At the city square you will find cozy bars, restaurants, cafés and ice cream parlors with delicious sorbets. Mimizan combines a fairly large seaside village in the typical French atmosphere with consistent waves.
As I already mentioned, Mimizan is divided into two places, but for this travel guide we focus on Mimizan-Plage as this is the most relevant place for a surfing holiday.
Food in Mimizan
For food and socializing in Mimizan-Plage you have to be in Rue Du Casino. There are many restaurants and bars on this cozy and busy street in the center, so there is always something fun to do!
- La cabane à pizza
This is the place in Mimizan for the best pizzas and burgers. The terrace is great to hang out and because it is a busy street you can also enjoy some good old people watching. The pizzas are made in the traditional way with fresh ingredients, what more do you want?
- L’orchestra bar
This cozy tapas bar is also located in Rue Du Casino and is the perfect place to take a moment to imagine yourself in Spain. The Spanish ‘jambon’ hangs directly behind the bar and is cut fresh for you. You can sit on the terrace on the busy street, but even more fun is the garden behind the restaurant. An oasis of tranquility in the Spanish atmosphere!
- A noste
If you prefer to eat your Lunch or Dinner directly on the beach, then you should go to A Nostre. This Beach bar serves typical bar foods with a French twist. In addition, they also serve delicious cocktails. Highly recommended to come here during the sunset and enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sun sink into the sea. What’s not to like?
